Friends of Ganondagan
Just southeast of Rochester, New York, in the town of Victor, lies Ganondagan, the site of a 17 th century Seneca village that has influenced the life of modern-day America from its politics to its food. Americans everywhere owe a debt to the Seneca people who once lived at Ganondagan. Their democratic ideals served as an inspiration to the US Constitution. Their matriarchal society influenced women's right to vote. Their natural medicines, commitment to recycling, and healthy, organic cuisines are part of our everyday life. The roots of contemporary society can be traced to this historic site.
Ganondagan is building a new 30,000 square-foot state-of-the-art facility to exhibit art, sponsor community events, and further its mission and goals. It will be the first of its kind, for both the State of New York and the Seneca Nation, becoming a model for other Native American sites nationwide. The Art and Education Center at Ganondagan will facilitate the education of thousands of regional students; provide jobs and tourism opportunities to strengthen the local economy; and showcase the art, history, and accomplishments of this culture.
Danforth Development is working with the leadership of Ganondagan to launch its campaign, Signatures of the Seneca, to build this facility with a goal of 13 million dollars. To date, 9.5 million has been raised, and the expected groundbreaking date is the fall of 2008.
Campaign for Promising Futures
Allendale Columbia School is the key to our future vitality. This is the most focused effort dedicated to academic excellence and faculty support ever organized at the school. The Campaign will endow three distinguished professorships, eight special subject funds, and create a fund to support professional development activities for both faculty and staff.
New Financial Scholarship Programs for athletic excellence, artistic talent, and foreign language accomplishments will be launched, and the current Opportunity Scholarship Program will be expanded. Technology needs and capital improvements will be supported through the campaign, articulated through the capital needs schedule created as part of the strategic planning process.
Generations of extraordinary people have led and attended Allendale Columbia School and our graduates have achieved much. In the Rochester region and around the world, our alumni are leaders in the fields of commerce, technology, science, law, medicine, education, politics, and the arts. These remarkable accomplishments have been fueled by the passion of the faculty. The resources they bring to the challenge of teaching will be supported by the Campaign, representing the most critical endeavor in independent school education.
To assure that the legacy of excellence continues, Allendale Columbia will seek to build the endowment to $20 million. Although the school currently benefits from having one of the largest endowments of any independent school in the region, we want to continue to attract the best students, faculty, and curriculum offerings.
Together with the esteemed leadership of this fine academic institution, Danforth Development will seek to raise $4 million dollars in this campaign.
